A message from our President

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a chance to spend some time with friends and family during the holidays and that you’re as excited as I am about what’s to come in 2023.  This is going to be an unprecedented year in the history of Cook County Physician’s Association, and at the center of it all is you, our members.

We confronted the challenges of the pandemic head-on and emerged on the other side as the leading voice in the African American community, embracing the opportunity to move forward a bold plan that includes a greater effort on recruitment and reclamation of our doctors and healthcare professionals of African-descent, building upon the great legacy of our ancestors we are engaging in the expansion of our scholarships and community service.

CCPA expects to add much needed expertise in areas that impact the health of the Black community.  We are committed to providing input in strengthening violence prevention, overdose prevention, and chronic disease management.  We are excited to continue efforts in legislation and governmental affairs and leading efforts to decrease health disparities and improve quality of life and life expectancy.

Lastly, while we are focused on being the best professional organization we can be today, we also have an eye on the future and how people will access health resources in the years ahead.  In 2023, you will see CCPA continue to be a leader in the education of relevant topics in healthcare for its members- and emphasis in professional development, climate change, and technology.  These efforts are good for our organization, good for the planet, and good for our patients.

This is going to be a great year, and we look forward to taking our organization to new heights.  From the Executive Board, thank you for being a part of us at Cook County Physicians Association, thank you for choosing to collaborate with us today, and from my family to yours, Happy New Year, this will be our “Record-breaking year”.

Sincerely,

Audrey L. Tanksley MD
President, CCPA
